Our condolences to the family of a Mattoon legend. Gene Hoots, whose little ice cream shop expanded into the original Burger King in 1954, passed away Saturday at the age of 90. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until noon tomorrow (12/5) at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home.
