Seven cheerleaders from Mattoon Middle School perform at Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Day
The group of seven All American cheerleaders, who were selected by Varsity UCA staff during a camp held over the Summer of 2018, recently returned from Orlando where they spent from December 28-January 2 practicing and preparing for the pre-game show of the Citrus Bowl. The girls perfected the routine with hundreds of other All American’s from all over the country, practicing for five hours each day and then enjoying the Disney parks in the evenings. The Mattoon Middle School All American’s were able to fundraising and obtain sponsors in the months leading up to the trip, which helped cover part of the costs associated with the trip and performance. Coach Claire Unkraut and parent Beth Hettinger chaperoned the girls.
The MMS All American’s who performed at the Citrus Bowl are: Chloe Hettinger, Ella Bahney, Josie Lee, Kamryn Conlin, Kiersten East, Julia Morton and Leah Stapleton.
