Valerie Harper’s brave battle with cancer is over. The comic legend died today at the age of 80. She was diagnosed in 2013 with a rare condition in which cancer cells spread to the brain. She was only given three months to live. But she held on, even competing on Dancing With the Stars later that year. The beloved actress started her career as a dancer and chorus girl on Broadway. She’s best known for playing Rhoda in the Mary Tyler Moore Show in the 70s. Offscreen she fought for passage of the Equal Rights Amendment. Valerie is survived by her husband and daughter.
