(Charleston), IL – The Coles County Health Department confirms one additional case of COVID-19 in Coles County. To date, there have been two laboratory confirmed cases in Coles County.
Public health officials are working to identify and actively monitor individuals who were in contact with the confirmed case in an effort to reduce the risk of additional transmission.
Stenger continues to encourage residents who develop flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, and/or sore throat to stay home and contact their health care provider before seeking care. “Unless it is a medical emergency, we must be disciplined to isolate ourselves at home,” adds Stenger.
Coles County Health Department will not be releasing any identifying information regarding positive COVID-19 cases in order to maintain confidentiality, privacy, and HIPAA guidelines,” Stenger said. “Our thoughts are with the individuals and their families.”
We can expect more cases to be confirmed locally. The number of cases can be reduced by adhering to public health guidance on social distancing, frequent hand washing, disinfecting commonly touched surfaces and staying home.
