“The man turned himself in who is in my pictures. His wife saw them on fb and he stated he was just scrapping and is not a thief. He is returning everything. Hopefully everything is still in good condition. I am so thankful I dont have to replace it all! It’s hard enough during COVID as well as all of the construction we already had in place to have something like that happen. We truly do just want to keep improving this restaurant so we can continue to serve the community! Thank you all for the shares and support!”
Earlier: Hubbartt’s Downtown Diner in Mattoon was burglarized between 5:00 and 6:00 this morning. Multiple items were stolen, including stainless steel tables and stainless commercial sinks. According to Hubbartt’s Facebook page, the theft may have involved a white GMC truck. If you have any information, please call the Mattoon Police Department at 235-5451.
