Shred Day held by Washington Savings Bank helped raise money for Mattoon Community Food Center
(Mattoon, Illinois – May 15, 2021) Washington Savings Bank held a community Shred Day on Saturday May 15th from 9:00-11:00am. While the shred service was free, the Mattoon Community Food Center was there to accept donations of non-perishable food and cash to benefit the food center. They were able collect several boxes of food items and $510 in monetary donations which Washington Savings Bank then matched.
Habitat for Humanity of Mattoon was also present to collect ink cartridges for recycling. Washington Savings Bank plans to hold another Shred Day next year as a way of helping the community protect their personal information. Shredding documents with sensitive information is a vital way to help prevent identity theft.
