Indiana To Move Away From State Tests To Measure Student Performance
(Indianapolis, IN) — Indiana’s next state report cards will not be based on test scores. The state’s Department of Education yesterday said they are moving away from a “one time snapshot” and moving toward a new dashboard that measures student performance over time. No one is explaining just how it will work in the classroom, but a DOE spokesperson says the idea is to measure more than reading, math, and science scores. Indiana schools will now be judged on how well kids are prepared for college or a career, how well they communicate, what their work ethic is, and where they stand on civic and financial literacy.
