IL Freedom Caucus Issues Statement in Support of HR79: United States Withdraw from the World Health Organization

Springfield, IL – The IL Freedom Caucus is issuing the following statement in support of US Congressional HR 79 sponsored by US Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), a House Freedom Caucus Member, requiring the President to immediately withdraw from the World Health Organization. This legislation is also co-sponsored by IL Congresswoman and House Freedom Caucus Member, Mary Miller.

“The United States’ withdrawal from the World Health Organization is an America First action that is long overdue. It has become increasingly self-evident that the WHO is just another ineffective, international organization lacking in any meaningful accomplishments to justify the billions of dollars in US funding the organization has received. Illinois taxpayers have sent hundreds of millions of dollars to the WHO and all we have received in return is corrupt, Chica centric, America last policies that are not in the best interest of our nation or the world.

If there was ever a time for the World Health Organization to prove itself, and to be worth the more than $4 Billion dollars the United States has sent WHO since 2010, it would have been during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Unfortunately, the World Health Organization failed to show even a modicum of transparency and honesty during the pandemic. Instead of the WHO paying a price for their dishonesty, President Biden has proposed to reward this bad behavior with increased funding off the backs of working families.

If the pandemic showed taxpayers anything, it is that the institutions we thought were protecting us are actively working against the interests of the United States and are lying to us and to the world at large. The only way to stop the lies and end the anti-American policies is to cut off funding. We urge Congress to pass HR 79 and send a message to the WHO their lies will no longer be tolerated.”
