Coles County Airport Authority Earns a Perfect Score on the 2024 FAA Part 139 Inspection
Coles County Airport Authority is pleased to announce that they have earned a perfect score on their Annual FAA Part 139 Inspection for the second consecutive year.
In October, Administrative Assistant Billie Little began uploading records to the FAA E-Doc Share File in preparation for the November 18,2024, deadline after receiving the Inspection Confirmation Email from FAA Airport Certification Inspector Erasmo Alarcon.
November 12, 2024, Manager Fearn met with Inspector Alarcon in person for the onsite portion of the part 139 Inspection which included an in-brief, a day inspection of the movement and safety areas, a night inspection of the movement and safety areas, an ARFF Inspection which included a time-response drill with Mattoon City Fire Department, a fuel inspection (tankers, carts, facilities) and a wildlife hazard management inspection.
December 9, 2024, Manager Fearn and Assistant Little had a Virtual Out-Brief with Inspector Alarcon. Alarcon reviewed the E-Doc and Onsite findings and commended the Airport Authority for the procedures and dedication that is apparent in the day-to-day operation of the airport. He stated that the appearance of the airport indicates they are effective.
“We are pleased to have the confirmation of our commitment recognized by the FAA, there are many aspects of safety and standards that compose the Part 139 Certification, we work diligently to assure the safety of our flying community and to provide a Gateway to Coles County. It is a daily commitment from myself, the Airport Staff, and the Mattoon City Fire Department,” said Manager Andrew Fearn.
