Rep. Adam Niemerg calls on Gov. Pritzker to testify to Congress on Sanctuary State policy
Dieterich, IL – State Representative Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich) is urging Governor JB Pritzker to testify before the US House Oversight Committee, led by Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) and explain why he continues to support Illinois’s sanctuary policies.
“The Governor continues to affirm his support for these policies and has made it clear he is not going to change his mind,” Niemerg said. “This is his opportunity to explain to Illinois residents and the rest of the country why he believes enabling illegal immigrants to thwart federal law is a good thing and why he believes the majority of American citizens who support President Trump’s immigration policies are wrong.”
He said Pritzker should also explain to Congress why he thinks it is a good idea to continue spending hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars on programs and services for illegal immigrants when there is at least a $3.2 billion hole in the budget.
“I think we can all understand why Governor Pritzker would be reluctant to testify before Congress,” Niemerg said. “It is difficult to defend the indefensible, but I hope he does testify because these policies continue to have an impact on the lives of real people. He is asking Illinois taxpayers to continue to pay more and more of their hard-earned dollars on taxes in our state to prop up his far-left agenda. He needs to answer questions on why someone barely making ends meet should pay for programs and services for people who are not even legally allowed to be in this country. There are a lot of questions we need answered.”
Niemerg serves as the Republican Spokesman for the House Immigration and Human Rights Committee.
