The Lake Land softball team won three straight games yesterday to claim the Region 24 tournament title and punch their ticket to the national tournament. The Lady Lakers avenged the previous day’s loss to John A. Logan, winning an 8-7 nail-biter and then swept 19th ranked Wabash Valley, 5-3 and 13-2. Coach Nic Nelson not only earned career victory #500, but was also named Region 24 coach of the year. Frankie Izard was named player of the year, and teammates Abe Lee, Delaine Johnson, Amaya Eubanks and Allie Helton earned all-region 24 honors.
