Thursday, May 7, 2020, Ed Dowd, Executive Director of the Mattoon Chamber of Commerce was a guest on 101.3 WMCI. At the the bottom of the page you can listen to the entire interview. Here is a brief description of what he covered during the interview:
- The Governor announced his new “Restore Illinois” Plan on Tuesday (Copy attached)
- According to the new plan we are in phase 2 which started May 1st. there will be no chance of moving to phase 3 until May 29th at the earliest.
- The State of Illinois is now divided into 4 regions that will need to pass certain criteria before the Region can be moved to the next phase.
- The designated region Coles County is part of encompasses 39 Counties and many cities including Springfield, Champaign, Quincy, Decatur, Danville, and Galesburg.
- Based on the size of our region, and what cities are involved, it could be challenging to move to phase 3 by May 29th.
“Based on these guidelines, even if we move to phase 3 by May 28th, restaurants and bars will still be restricted to delivery, Drive -through, pickup, and carry out for a minimum of another 28 days before phase 4 can even be considered. This will create significant hardships for area restaurants and bars.”
