Rep. Miller Slams Biden Admin for Possibility of Department of Veterans Affairs Funds Going to Border Crisis
WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Mary Miller (R-IL) sent a follow-up letter to the President Biden’s Veterans Affairs Secretary asking if any resources from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will be diverted from serving our nation’s veterans to deal with the crisis President Biden has created on our southern border.
“We need to ensure that no money that was set aside to help our veterans is being diverted to the southern border,” Miller said. “VA resources should be used for our veterans, not to manage President Biden’s self-created crisis at the southern border. Instead of depriving our nation’s heroes of resources, the Biden administration should reinstate the effective border security policies of the Trump administration and complete construction of the border wall.”
This letter comes after the Biden Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released a memorandum outlining their strategy to handle the border crisis. The memo states that DHS will enlist the help of the Department of Defense, the Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency in diverting resources away from their core missions to address the Biden Border Crisis.
This is a follow-up from a letter sent to the VA secretary earlier this month, that still has not been responded to. You can view the full letter sent today here.
