Foo Fighters have announced the June 2nd release of their 11th studio album, But Here We Are, and have dropped the set's lead single, “Rescued.” The album marks the band's first sine the March 22nd, 2022 death of drummer Taylor Hawkins.
The album, which comes, “Following a year of staggering losses, personal introspection and bittersweet remembrances,” was produced by Greg Kurstin and the band and is being billed as “the first chapter of the band’s new life.”
The band posted a message tyo fans on their official webiste (FooFighters.com), which reads in part:
A brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters endured over the last year, But Here We Are is a testament to the healing powers of music, friendship and family.
Courageous, damaged and unflinchingly authentic, But Here We Are opens with (the) newly released lead single “Rescued,” the first of 10 songs that run the emotional gamut from rage and sorrow to serenity and acceptance, and myriad points in between.
Sonically channelling the naiveté of Foo Fighters’ 1995 debut, informed by decades of maturity and depth, But Here We Are is the sound of brothers finding refuge in the music that brought them together in the first place 28 years ago, a process that was as therapeutic as it was about a continuation of life.
A while back Dave Grohl explained that it's important to him to change things up on each of the Foo Fighters' new albums: “The best thing about being in a band and making music is doing as many things as possible and exploring as many different musical regions as you can get your hands into. And it's important for every artist to explore that or just take a stab at it. Records should be things that are important to the artists as well as the people.”
The Foos have yet to announce who'll sit behind the drumkit for the band's upcoming dates.
