IL Freedom Caucus Chairman Vice-Chairman call for Republicans to reject teacher union campaign donations
Springfield, IL – The IL Freedom Caucus leadership is calling on Republicans in Illinois to reject political donations from teachers’ unions.
“It has become increasingly evident over the past few years that the Teachers’ Unions have a political foothold not only on Democrats, but some Republicans too,” said State Representative Chris Miller (R-Hindsboro), the Chairman of the IL Freedom Caucus. “Today, we are calling on the Illinois Republican Party to implement a new rule preventing campaign contributions from Teachers’ Unions. We must not forget these are the people responsible for shutting down schools, masking kids, promoting woke curriculum, and most recently working to kill Invest in Kids Scholarships. This new rule will ensure that Republicans are not being funded by those against our students.”
In an open letter, Rep. Miller and State Rep. Blaine Wilhour (R-Beecher City) call for the Illinois Republican Party to initiate a new rule preventing ALL Republican candidates from accepting campaign contributions from teachers’ unions.
“The sad reality is teachers’ unions have adopted a far-left agenda that is simply not compatible with the values of the Republican Party,” Wilhour said. “Everyone supports teachers and supports education but when the teachers’ unions decided to make climate change, trans ideology, gun control and other issues part of their agenda, they put themselves at odds the Republican Party. We must stand up for our principles and values and reject campaign donations from teachers’ unions.”
