The Country Drive Home with Lane
Weekdays 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Hi, I’m Lane Blickem. I have been with the station on a full-time basis since 2006 and I truly enjoy coming to work every day. My personality is easy-going, positive, and always willing to find the humor in things.
My hometown is Cowden, Illinois and I graduated high school in 1997. My class had 39 people—we knew just about everybody’s names, parents, pets, addresses, vehicles, pretty much everything.
After high school, I majored in radio/TV broadcasting at Lake Land College. I also pitched for the Lakers’ baseball team and had an absolute blast. I earned my degree in 1999 and entered the world of professional radio. I spent some time working in Taylorville, IL before coming to Cromwell Media in Mattoon.
I am the youngest of four kids and the only boy. Yes, three older sisters—Leasa, LeAnne, and Lola. They are all amazing and successful women. I am very fortunate in the family department. My parents’ names are Larry and Charlotte. They have always been so supportive of everything their kids have done and will do. I’m blessed.
My wife’s name is Trisha. We have been together since 2010 and married since 2013. She is a registered nurse and would do anything to help her family and friends. Again, I’m a very lucky guy. We have two dogs—Jersey and Emmett.
I love sports and cover a variety of games for the stations in our group. Baseball, softball, volleyball, basketball, football…if somebody is playing, I’m probably broadcasting it or watching it.
In my free time, I like to run and keep an active schedule.
Random facts: I must put on my left shoe first. When I see the date on a coin, I’ll try to name the World Series winner from that year. I remember numbers incredibly well. My wife is much handier around the house than I am. The most irritating noise in the world is someone rubbing their hands on a balloon. I appreciate a good pun as much as anybody you’ll ever meet.
You won’t find too many “heavy” topics when you listen to my show. I’m a happy and thankful guy. Thank you for inviting me to be part of your day!
